Blended Learning
What is Blended Learning (BL)?
Scheduled, live, virtual instruction provided by an HCS Teacher a few days each week. HCS provides approved print curriculum and grade level material, pacing guides and digital online resources.
- Students engage in weekly online class sessions with a credentialed teacher
- Students typically engage in daily literacy and math activities in HCS approved curriculum and complete assigned work: Grades K-2, 60-90 minutes for Math and ELA; Grades 3-5, 75-110 minutes for Math and ELA; Grades 6-8, 90-120 minutes for Math and ELA
- Families work with the HCS approved pacing guides, ensure students complete the assigned work, monitor learning, and provide additional daily supplemental enrichment activities to support student development in Math and English Language Arts.
- HCS Teachers provide ongoing assessments and regular progress feedback to families.
- HCS Teachers provide social interactions, small group lessons as needed, and meet with families regularly to help families maintain student pacing, to monitor and to guide student achievement.
