End-of-Year Celebration
Despite cool temperatures and light rain, Horizon Charter School’s 8th-grade families gathered at Stone Creek Community Park in Rancho Cordova to celebrate an important milestone—the completion of middle school and promotion to high school.
The morning began with a promotion ceremony recognizing the accomplishments of the Class of 2030. Students proudly received certificates of completion and celebrated with family, friends, and staff who gathered to honor their hard work and achievements. Following the ceremony, students marked the occasion by signing one another’s Horizon Class of 2030 commemorative t-shirts, creating lasting keepsakes and memories.
As families from across Horizon’s academies joined the celebration, the park transformed into a vibrant community gathering filled with laughter, creativity, and connection. Students spent the day engaging in a variety of hands-on activities, including bubble play, oobleck experiments, sidewalk chalk art, beaded jewelry making, and painting colorful ice cream cone crafts.
The festivities also featured unique experiences led by members of the Horizon community. Our 2026 Odyssey of the Mind team provided materials for students to design and build their own marble runs, while Kindness Pennants encouraged participants to make meaningful pledges for the future. Students also enjoyed a spirited paper snowball hootenanny organized by Mr. Quayle and a popular hanging challenge hosted by Horizon’s own Ninja Warrior, Talan Yorn, who also shared educational information about Lyme disease.
The event was a wonderful celebration of student achievement, community, and the friendships formed throughout the school year. Congratulations to our 8th-grade students on reaching this important milestone.
