About Horizon Charter School

Since 1993, Horizon Charter Schools has been a leader in personalized education, serving families across six Northern California counties. As one of the region’s oldest and largest charter schools, Horizon offers flexible learning options tailored to each family’s unique needs, including home study, independent study, and virtual learning.

What sets Horizon apart is its commitment to providing more resources, including $3,000 per student for educational materials, and allowing families to share funds across siblings for even more flexibility. Horizon also offers parent support through mentors, workshops, grade-level academies, and credentialed supervising teachers, ensuring every student receives the guidance and resources they need.

Your student’s plan reflects their interests, pace, and goals. Qualified students can receive support through IEPs or 504 plans—so every learner has a clear path forward.

Home-based learning with a flexibility to meet your family’s needs—choose On-Demand (mostly digital), Supported Home Study (TK-8 print-based option), and Blended Learning (Live, virtual instruction with a class of students).

Horizon offers UC/CSU A–G courses, maintains an NCAA-approved course list, and supports eligible students who want to take college courses online & during the school day, explore CTE pathways, and connect with peers through enrichment and activities.
