An Interactive Strategies & Activities Workshop
Learn creative new ways to engage and stimulate your gifted students. Interact and socialize with other Horizon Charter Schools families experiencing the same challenges you are as we explore:
- How to adapt depth and complexity into meaningful learning
- Multiple intelligences
- Strategies, activities and projects that meet and exceed the needs of gifted and exceptional learners
- Strengths and challenges of working with gifted students
- Resources to enhance future lessons
Students are encouraged to participate in this free, fun, hands-on workshop. Families will take home samples, articles, templates, and a list of websites to empower their students to thrive.
This interactive and insightful family workshop is open to all Horizon Charter Schools families and students. Students must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Horizon’s Family Workshops Taught by our Experienced Parent Educator
All Horizon family workshops are lead by Horizon’s School-wide Parent Educator, Kathleen Waffle. She has taught workshops for schools from the Bay Area to the Greater Sacramento Area. With over four decades as a kindergarten through eighth grade classroom teacher, kindergarten through twelfth grade school principal, college adjunct professor, county coordinator, and administrator with Horizon Charter Schools since the spring of 2015, Kathleen knows all the tips and tricks to help families succeed in their homeschool or independent study journeys.
Kathleen brings a plethora of engagement strategies, hands-on activities, and how-to-succeed tips to every workshop she teaches. All Horizon Charter Schools workshops are designed to help parents and students will thrive throughout their educational journeys and beyond.

Free Workshops Help Homeschool and Independent Study Parents and Students Thrive
Kathleen Waffle leads workshops for Horizon families on a monthly basis at a variety of locations across Horizon’s six county service area of Sacramento, Placer, El Dorado, Sutter, Nevada, and Yuba Counties. The workshops cover a broad range of topics important to homeschool and independent study families. Best of all, there is no charge for these workshops; they are a free service provided to Horizon families by Horizon Charter Schools.
