Kids love making movies and being in the spotlight. One of the many benefits of home teaching is the ability for kids to learn in creative ways — and for the family to have a great time doing it. Hunter, a Horizon Charter Schools home study student, created Hunter News Network, his own news network while studying about meteorology. The family took a field trip to Sly Park Spillway in El Dorado County so he could give his weather report on location.
In his video, Hunter explains what caused the “phenomenal flow” at the Spillway, detailing how “Torrential Pineapple Express rains coupled with an impressive snowpack…led to massive fun-off.”
Hunter learned about weather systems as well as video production – and had lots of fun in the process. Way to go Hunter!
Take a look at his special report. Be sure to watch until the end where he makes his prediction about the drought in California.
