We had such an awesome response to our August Homeschool Success Workshops, we decided to do them again! One of our most popular workshops, families will have fun making lap books that include 9 interactive activities that can be used with all subjects and topics. Take a look at some highlights from August’s workshop:
Designed to make you a parent educator extraordinaire, the workshop includes engagement strategies, hands-on activities, and how-to-succeed tips to help your family thrive at Horizon. You’ll leave armed with tons of knowledge and resources to help you during your homeschool journey.
Socialize with other Horizon Charter Schools families as you learn how to:
- Organize a homeschool classroom or workspace
- Define homeschool/homework schedules
- Balance multiple ages – infants to high school
- Successfully manage challenging behaviors
- Maintain records for Learning Period meetings with Supervising Teachers
- Plan cross-curricular projects
- Integrate art into all subjects
- Write in all subjects
Horizon’s family workshops are FREE to all Horizon Charter Schools’ families and take place in a variety of locations for the convenience of our homeschool and independent study families. Horizon’s Family Workshops Taught by our Experienced Parent Educator
All Horizon family workshops are lead by Horizon’s School-wide Parent Educator, Kathleen Waffle. With over four decades as a kindergarten through eighth grade classroom teacher, kindergarten through twelfth grade school principal, college adjunct professor, county coordinator and administrator with Horizon Charter Schools since the spring of 2015, Kathleen knows all the tips and tricks to help families succeed in their homeschool or independent study journeys.
Kathleen brings a plethora of engagement strategies, hands-on activities, and how-to-succeed tips to each workshop so you and your children will thrive in our school. Each of the workshops includes:
- Hands-on activities
- Published articles
- Helpful websites to support your teaching
- Networking opportunities with other Horizon families
- And a whole lot of fun!
Free Monthly Workshops for Homeschool and Independent Study Parents and Students
Kathleen Waffle leads workshops for Horizon families on a monthly basis at a variety of locations across Horizon’s six county service area of Sacramento, Placer, El Dorado, Sutter, Nevada, and Yuba Counties. The workshops cover a broad range of topics important to homeschool and independent study families. Best of all, there is no charge for these workshops; they are a free service provided to Horizon families by Horizon Charter Schools.
