In order to expand Horizon Charter School students’ knowledge of available career exploration options, the Guidance Department recently held its annual “Who Do You Want to be?” career contest!
In this event, students were invited to provide either an essay or video submission on what their ideal career would be. By doing the presentation, it provides students the opportunity to research where their interests lie and what steps are needed to achieve their ideal career.
While all of the submissions were top notch, the counselors decided on the following students’ submissions as this years’ top entries, linked below
Daniela Hermosillo-10th grade, video entry
Mahad Khan-8th grade-essay entry
We hope that this contest inspired students to start thinking about their long-term career goals!
Counselors are available to meet with High School students to discuss options. Link to our Hub Page is here.
Both Middle and High School students are encouraged to set up an account with www.californiacolleges.edu. This is a wonderful, free resource for students to begin doing research on their next steps, for both College and Career!
In order to sign up you will need the following information:
SSID: ______________ (each student has their own unique STATE ID), you can contact your ST or counselor for this information. It is also on your transcript.
Again, congratulations to this year’s winners!!
