Building Successful Futures
Learning Centers Provide Instruction, Build Relationships
To augment the homeschool experience, many parents want their children to benefit from interaction with other homeschoolers and teachers in a limited, small group setting without losing control of the education process. So, Horizon Charter Schools (HCS) developed Learning Centers.
HCS students can take one class or multiple classes at any or all of our Learning Centers. Families can use their student funds to pay for Learning Center classes and any necessary supplies, so there are no personal, out-of-pocket expenses. With the $1,000 increase per child in student funds and the ability to share funds within the family, your children can take a variety of courses and still have plenty of funds for supplies and study trips.
HCS Learning Center courses include both core subjects and electives. Most classes meet once a week, except mathematics courses, which typically meet twice per week. Learning Centers have classes for kindergarteners through high school, organized by subject and grade level. Course offerings include:
- Language Arts
- Science Labs
- Lego Engineering
We currently have four Learning Centers plus a Montessori program supporting our six-county region. Learning Centers are located in:
- Elk Grove
- Lincoln Montessori
In addition to HCS Learning Centers, families can use student funds for classes offered by many local businesses. Visit our Enrichment and Electives page to learn more about these types of classes.
