Building Successful Futures
Learning Centers Provide Instruction, Build Relationships
To augment the homeschool experience, many parents want their children to benefit from interaction with other homeschoolers and teachers in a limited, small group setting without losing control of the education process. So, Horizon Charter Schools (HCS) developed Learning Centers where students can take core classes 2 days per week with other Horizon students. Elective and enrichment classes are offered once each week.
HCS students can take one class or multiple classes at either of our Learning Centers. Families can use their student funds to pay for Learning Center classes and any necessary supplies, so there are no personal, out-of-pocket expenses. With the recent increase per child in student funds and the ability to share funds within the family, your children can take a variety of courses and still have plenty of funds for supplies and study trips.
Learning Centers have classes for kindergartners through high school, organized by subject and grade level. Course offerings include:
- Language Arts
- Science Labs
- Lego Engineering
We currently have two Learning Centers:
- Elk Grove
In addition to HCS Learning Centers, families can use student funds for classes offered by many local businesses. Visit our Enrichment and Electives page to learn more about these types of classes.
For families looking for a five days per week, site-based option, check out our Lincoln Montessori Community Co-op program.
Our Elk Grove Learning Center has high school English, Science and Math classes and labs on Mondays and Wednesday, as well as Math support for grades 6-12. Friday classes include Drama, Mad Science and Spanish labs. Our Elk Grove Center is located near Franklin and Laguna boulevards and open from 8:30 - 4:00.
